Contractor payments

Invoice from the job site. Get paid before you pack up.

PayLeaf turns the invoice into the payment. Build it on your phone in the driveway, hand the customer a QR code, and the job is closed out before you have loaded the truck — no e-transfer to chase, no cheque to deposit, no terminal to carry.

Sound familiar?

The work is done. The money is somewhere else.

The e-transfer that never comes

You finish the job, send your account details, and then spend two weeks sending polite reminders. The customer isn't dodging you — they just forgot, and there is nothing in front of them to pay.

Invoices written at 9pm

After a ten-hour day you still have to type out line items, work out the GST, and get it looking professional enough to send. So it waits until Sunday, and payment waits with it.

Deposits, cheques and holds

A cheque means a trip to the branch and a hold before the funds clear. Cash means a paper trail you have to rebuild at tax time from memory and a shoebox.

How PayLeaf fits a trade

Describe the job. The invoice writes itself.

Tell PayLeaf what you did in the words you would use on the phone — “replaced kitchen faucet, two hours labour, parts” — and it drafts proper line items with sensible pricing. It learns from the invoices you have already sent, so the descriptions come back sounding like your business rather than a template. Everything stays editable, and nothing is sent until you approve it.

Add GST and PST with a toggle. Your GST/HST number, business name and logo sit on every invoice, which is what the customer's bookkeeper is going to ask for anyway. The finished invoice is a branded PDF you can send by text, email or WhatsApp, or print and leave on the counter.

Every invoice carries its own QR pay code. The customer points a phone camera at it and lands on a secure Stripe-powered page showing the exact amount owed — no app to install, no amount to type in, no chance of paying the wrong figure. On larger jobs you can also offer pay by bank, which costs you a flat 1.5% instead of card processing.

The moment it settles, the invoice marks itself paid, you get a push notification, and the customer gets an email receipt. You are not reconciling anything on Sunday night — it is already done.

Line items drafted from one sentence, GST calculated, PAID stamped on settlement.

FAQ

Straight answers.

Yes — that is the intended workflow. Build the invoice in the app, add GST and PST, and share the PDF or the payment link straight from your phone before you leave. The QR pay code is generated with the invoice, so there is nothing to set up per job.

No. They scan the QR code with their phone's normal camera and pay on a secure Stripe-powered web page, or they tap the link you texted them. There is nothing for them to download and no account for them to create.

You toggle GST (5%) and PST on per invoice, and PayLeaf calculates them on the subtotal and shows them as their own lines. Your GST/HST registration number appears on the invoice PDF. Collecting the tax is handled for you; remitting it to the CRA is still your responsibility.

Send a separate invoice for each stage — a deposit invoice up front, then progress or final invoices as the work lands. Each one has its own QR code, its own total, and its own paid status, so the job's payment history stays readable.

On a card payment you pay PayLeaf 0.5% plus Stripe's standard processing — $68.30 all in on $2,000, leaving you $1,931.70. Offer pay by bank instead and the whole fee is a flat 1.5%, or $30.00. There is no monthly fee either way, so a slow month costs you nothing.
