A monthly fee on a one-person business
Software subscriptions, terminal rental and a per-chair licence all assume a room full of stylists. When it is only you, the fixed cost lands entirely on your own column.
Salon & barber payments
A single chair does not need a point-of-sale system with a monthly bill attached. PayLeaf gives you a QR code at your station: the client scans it while you sweep up, pays by card or Apple Pay, and the money is on its way to your own bank account before they reach the door.

Software subscriptions, terminal rental and a per-chair licence all assume a room full of stylists. When it is only you, the fixed cost lands entirely on your own column.
If you rent a chair, you are paying for the space before you have earned anything. Another fixed monthly charge just to accept a card is the last thing the week needs.
Bookings are seasonal. A subscription is not. Two slow weeks after the holidays still cost you the same as a fully booked week in December.
How PayLeaf fits a chair
Print your PayLeaf QR code once and prop it on the station — on the mirror, at the till, in a small frame beside the products you retail. When the cut is finished the client scans it with their phone camera and pays on a secure Stripe-powered page. They do not download anything, they do not create an account, and you never handle their card.
For services with a set price you can send the exact amount instead: build it in the app, and the client gets a payment link or a QR code for that specific total. Colour work quoted in advance, a bridal package, a course of treatments — all of it can be priced, sent and paid before the appointment if that is how you prefer to work.
Everything lands in one history with the date, the amount and the client name where you have added it, so working out what the month actually earned does not involve a notebook. Receipts go to clients by email automatically, which quietly answers the “can you send me something for that?” question.
The cost is 0.5% to PayLeaf plus standard Stripe processing on each payment, and nothing at all in a month where you take none. On an $85 cut and blow-dry that is $3.20 in total fees, leaving you $81.80. There is no contract to leave, so if it does not suit your chair you simply stop using it — see the full pricing breakdown.
Services and retail on one ticket, paid at the chair, receipt emailed automatically.
FAQ
No. PayLeaf is free to download and free to keep, with no subscription, no per-chair licence and no terminal rental. You pay 0.5% plus standard Stripe processing on each payment you actually take.
Yes. Create the amount in the app and send the client a payment link or QR code by text or email. It works the same whether they pay it the night before or in the chair afterwards.
No. They scan your code with the phone's normal camera and pay in their browser by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Nothing to install, nothing to sign up for.
Yes. Add the product as a line alongside the service so shampoo, conditioner or styling tools sit on the same ticket as the cut. The client pays one total and the receipt itemises everything.
Refunds are issued from your phone in the app and go back to the card the client paid with. Stripe's published refund policy for your account governs how the original processing fee is treated.
Yes, and that is a common case. Your PayLeaf account and Stripe payouts are yours, tied to your own bank account, entirely separate from the salon owner's system. Your takings never pass through anyone else's till.
