No. Your customer pays exactly the invoice total, whether they pay by card or straight from their bank. PayLeaf never adds a surcharge or convenience fee at checkout, and the fees on this page come out of your side of the transaction.
A card payment costs 3.4% + 30¢, and that percentage keeps scaling with the invoice. A bank debit is one flat 1.5% with a $5 minimum, so on a $1,000 invoice you keep about $19 more, and on $5,000 about $95 more.
Card payments settle immediately and Stripe pays out to your bank account in roughly two business days. Bank payments are a pre-authorized debit, so they clear in three to five business days before the payout starts. Bank trades a few days of waiting for a lower fee.
Occasionally a debit bounces — insufficient funds or a closed account. PayLeaf reopens the invoice automatically, notifies you, and sends your customer a fresh payment link so they can try again or switch to a card. You are not charged a fee on a payment that never cleared.
Yes. There is no subscription, no terminal rental, no monthly minimum and no contract. If you take no payments in a month, PayLeaf costs you nothing that month. The per-transaction fee is the only way PayLeaf makes money from you.
